Abu is currently studying a BFA in Music theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). In 2020 Abu was a semi finalist for the inaugural Artist of Colour Scholarship. Abu is also a winner of the prestigious Bell Shakespeare scholarship and the Ministers Award for excellence in performing and student achievements.

Abu started his first big performance journey in Norm and Ahmed (dir. Robert Lewis), and also played Lola in The Spotlight Theatrical Company’s production of Kinky Boots (dir. Katie Grace).

During his time at VCA, Abu performed as part of the choir ensemble in Chess The Musical and Elegies: A song Cycle (both dir. Tyran Parke). 

Abu is currently making his professional debut as Junior in Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Choirboy (dir. Dino Dimitriadis and Zindzi Okenyo).
